Among Yamashita gyokuros, "Yamashita Jirushi" is the most affordable. You can consider it as an introduction to the fine-tasting world of Yamashita teas. When you infuse this tea with moderately hot water, it develops a soft, floral aroma. If you infuse it with hotter water, it leaves a clear, refreshing aftertaste. Gyokuro Yamashita Jirushi also makes an excellent gift, especially for people who appreciate the subtle differences of teas.
This "tea from the garden of the master" is of unmatched quality and unique in the world history of tea cultivation. The plants grow in the garden surrounding the residence of our tea master, Yamashita Toshikazu, who is well known and respected throughout Japan and beyond. Mr. Yamashita personally oversees the production of this unique tea day after day, ensuring that every step in the cultivation and processing is done with the utmost care and skill. Yamashita's Yashiki no cha is deliciously fragrant and has a distinctive flavor: full-bodied-precious, floral, sweet and gentle. Because of the extremely laborious and lengthy production process, Mr. Yamashita makes only a few kilograms of his "master garden tea" each year. Due to their extraordinary quality, the tightly rolled, dark green tea leaves retain their highly aromatic flavor even after the fourth or fifth infusion.
