In addition to tea and Matcha from the Uji region, the Joyo region (Kyoto Prefecture) has also received several awards at the national tea fair in recent years as a cultivation area for high-quality green tea and especially for the production of Tencha (raw material leaves for Matcha). This Matcha is a stone mill product for which only hand-picked leaves of the cultivar "Samidori" have been selected.
The Maimukashi is not to everyone's taste, as this matcha is composed more to the Japanese palate and taste preferences. The Maimukashi is therefore often ordered by tea schools and tea masters who prefer the traditional. People always eat a Japanese sweet with it at a tea ceremony to somewhat offset the strong taste of the matcha.
To underline the high quality of this Matcha variety, each can is wrapped in a different Japanese rice paper (washi). You can see examples of how the cans can look in the product pictures. We have no influence on the colour of the tin supplied to you.
