Premium Kamairi-Tea Grand Class ★★★
This is the best quality tea from Miyazaki Sabo. The tea leaves were picked before the young buds fully developed and were slowly heated at low temperatures. The multi-layered aroma of the young tea leaves and umami, combined with a slight sweetness result in an impressive tea enjoyment.Tea leaves:
Beautiful dark green with a slightly greyish tinge, elegantly rounded leaves in magatama shape. Very rich in fragrance. Impressive bouquet of sweet, honey-like flowers. Added to this are sweet fruity notes such as apricot, mineral notes reminiscent of roasted salmon and pleasantly spicy notes reminiscent of cocoa and roasted nuts.
Tasting:
Very rich on the nose with fragrant mineral aromas, slightly sweet nuts and chestnuts, a bouillon-like umami aroma and a noble scent of flowers. Very round on the palate, with gentle astringency, umami, fullness and a slight sweetness. Refreshing and soft.
How best to enjoy it:
It goes well with sushi, sashimi and tempura and other slightly more elaborate but elegant Japanese dishes with dashi or soy sauce, as well as grilled meat and fish simply seasoned with salt, and rich creamy and oily dishes. It is excellent in harmony with chocolate and rich cakes. This green tea is equally well suited as a companion to a stimulating conversation with a special friend or even for an enjoyable quiet moment.

Miyazaki Sabo produces the highest quality organic tea in Japan using traditional production methods.
The Miyazaki Sabo tea garden is located in Gokase, in the centre of the Japanese southern island of Kyushu. The Miyazaki family started growing tea there about 90 years ago and pioneered the conversion to organic cultivation about 40 years ago. Their goal was to produce tea that does no harm to nature, both in cultivation and in consumption.
The current owner Akira Miyazaki received official organic certification from JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standard) for Miyazaki Sabo in 2001. He uses the knowledge he acquired at university to produce a rich, characteristic Kamairi tea of the highest quality from the combination of soil, climate and the use of various excellent Japanese tea varieties, which is characterised by refreshing taste and sweetness.
The success of his efforts is documented by many prestigious awards, such as the Japanese Emperor's Prize, the highest award for Japanese agricultural products, awarded by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and the Great Taste Award Gold Award in England. Its teas were also served at dinner at the G20 Summit in Osaka in 2019. These recognitions show that Miyazaki Sabo is one of the country's leading tea producers.
History:
1930 Start of tea cultivation
1983 Stop of the use of all pesticides and chemical fertilisers
2001 Obtaining organic certification by JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standard)
2007 Renaming of the company to Miyazaki Sabo (Miyazaki Tea House)
