His tea garden on the island of Kyushu lies amidst the misty hills of Kirishima, surrounded by protective forests. The name "Kirishima" - literally "islands in the mist" - not only describes the landscape, but also the special atmosphere of this place.
The fine leaves of the Oku Midori variety are shaded for several weeks before harvesting.
