The Miumori Kirishima comes from the hand of Shutaro Hayashi, whose family has been growing organic tea in southern Japan for five generations. His tea garden on the island of Kyushu lies amidst the misty hills of Kirishima, surrounded by protective forests. The name "Kirishima" - literally "islands in the mist" - not only describes the landscape, but also the special atmosphere of this place.

The fine leaves of the Oku Midori variety are shaded for several weeks before harvesting. This careful cultivation protects the delicate aromatic substances, guarantees low tannin levels and makes the tea rich in ingredients - especially L-theanine, the ingredient in matcha known for its relaxing effect.

Since the early 1990s, the Hayashi family has been working consistently pesticide-free - out of conviction and responsibility. While Shutaro's father Osamu laid the ecological foundations, Shutaro was able to bring new impetus to the processing after studying tea science.
