Yuzamashi by Maekawa Junzō
Discover the exquisite Yuzamashi by Maekawa Junzō, a renowned artist from Tokoname, the epicenter of Japanese pottery. This pouring and cooling bowl impresses with its uniquely roughened surface, which is the result of a special glazing technique that Maekawa-san has developed as his trademark.
Born in 1976, Junzō Maekawa is one of the up-and-coming talents in the world of Kyusu ceramics. With a technical background and representing the fourth generation of his pottery-making family, he combines traditional craftsmanship with modern, innovative techniques. Maekawa-san is particularly known for his ability to create functional ceramics that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also enrich the tea ceremony through their practical application.
Each yuzamashi is a testament to Maekawa-san's dedication and craftsmanship. The rough surface, which ranges from a deep matt to a dark golden brown, is achieved by a permeable glaze he developed.
