The tea garden is nestled in hilly woodland in Kagoshima Prefecture on the island of Kyūshū. There, the plants develop strong, healthy leaves with a unique aroma thanks to the nutrient-rich volcanic soil and natural shading caused by the frequent occurrence of fog.

Before harvesting, the tea bushes are shaded for several weeks. This traditional practice promotes both the bright green color of the matcha and the high content of chlorophyll and L-theanine - the substance to which matcha owes its creamy depth and relaxing effect.
