Only the two youngest leaves of the tea plant are used for this exquisite drinking-grade matcha - tender, rich in nutrients and free from leaf veins. The organic Tencha grows in small tea gardens in the renowned tea region of Uji, south of Kyoto. The Ookawa family, who have been cultivating tea leaves for matcha since the late Edo period (Keio era, 1865-1868), are behind the careful production. Ground on traditional granite stone mills, the result is a powder of impressive fineness - bright green, velvety soft and wonderfully harmonious in taste.

Decent sweetness, mild elegance and hardly any bitterness: Organic Uji Matcha Premium is significantly less bitter than classic Uji Matcha and has an impressively balanced flavor profile. Its fine texture makes it particularly pleasant in the cup - ideal for classic preparation as usucha (thin matcha) or as a base for creative recipe ideas.

Recommended preparation:

For one cup (approx. 300 ml), we recommend 1-2 g matcha - best whisked with a chasen (bamboo whisk). The water should not be hotter than 80 °C in order to bring out the delicate aroma to its best advantage. Tip for beginners: Sieve dry in a bowl first - this prevents lumps and intensifies the foam.
