The Bio Matcha quality RYUU from Nakanishi is a type of Matcha that is usually not available in a shop even in Japan. Apart from the fact that all Matcha varieties from Nakanishi are only available in extremely small quantities, the RYUU is a Matcha that has not only been perfected by Nakanishi, but has also been given a special character, a special touch that sets it apart from other very high qualities. It is a Matcha quality that is usually not available on the market, but can only be obtained by a reputable tea ceremony teacher who has shown himself worthy of assessing the special character of the tea.
Surely the question now is why such a tea is available on the market, even though this year not even 1 kilogram of this excellent Matcha has been produced? To put it in a nutshell, "commercially available" sounds like the Matcha is available in any better tea shop, but of course this is not the case. The number of places where the RYUU is available is limited to a few specialists.
The fact that Nakanishi has decided not to offer the tea exclusively to a well-known tea ceremony master via the above-mentioned traditional way has to do with the fact that he himself wishes that such qualities are not only accessible to masters in Japan, but that also really interested lovers in Europe have the chance to get to know his extraordinary Matcha. Of course, this is only possible for a very small group of people due to the extremely small quantity.
Another decisive factor for the quality of the RYUU is that it is a Koicha Matcha (濃茶 - "strong Matcha"), which is not intended for preparation as a Usucha Matcha (薄茶 - "weak Matcha"). So if you want to drink a Matcha you are used to in this country, the RYUU is certainly not the right tea for you, but rather for Matcha connoisseurs who would like to dedicate themselves to the topic of Koicha and get to know a Koicha with a nuance that gives it the rank of being used at a Karamono tea ceremony.
At the Karamono Tea Ceremony, special attention is not only given to the selection of the Matcha, beyond the already usual high level at the tea ceremony, but also the tea utensils used come from the noblest sources, and are otherwise often more likely to be found in museums or exhibitions than that they would regularly be used at a tea ceremony. The Cha-ire alone, the tea tin for the Matcha, is usually not made of wood as usual, but of clay and made by a well-known and renowned master ceramicist.

The tea garden of the Nakanishis is about 1.25 ha in size and is located in the prefecture of Uji. The Nakanishi family has been growing organic tea there since 1980. "100% traditional cultivation and processing at the highest level" means that the tea garden of the Nakanishi family is completely covered with black nets, under which the tea bushes grow high. Once a year about 30 helpers come into the garden to harvest the tea - exclusively by hand!
The leaves are carefully processed into Tencha and then carefully ground in a stone mill.
