Produced in just a few kilograms, each tin reflects the philosophy of the Nakanishi family: respect for nature, living tradition, uncompromising quality.
What makes this matcha so special- 100% organic cultivation without agricultural chemicals, family-run since 1980
- Limited harvest quantity: only a few cans available worldwide
- Minimal mechanical processing: Almost all work steps are carried out by hand
- Stone mill grinding for maximum nutrient integrity and the finest texture
- Pure picking: Only the most tender leaves of the sweetest shrub variety are used
Taste & color
Intense bright green, like freshly opened leaves after the rain. Its taste? Fruity, lively and soft - almost free of astringency. The finish surprises with a creamy, almost sweet note on the palate. In direct comparison, the Gen Chou is somewhat stronger than the Takeno Jôô Matcha, but is more finely nuanced than the Shirasagi Uji Matcha from the same garden.
A matcha that gives your taste room. And depth to your attention.
Perfect for you if you...
- ... recognize quality not by the label, but by the taste.
- ... are looking for a matcha that harmoniously combines origin, craftsmanship and taste
- ... consciously enjoy it - be it in the morning ritual or in a quiet moment in between.
Processing & origin
Gen Chou comes from an organic tea garden of around 1.25 hectares in Uji - the legendary origin of "true tea" in Japan. The leaves ripen here under artfully stretched nets before they are picked exclusively by hand at the end of April. A complex processing process then begins: the leaves are refined into tencha before being carefully ground into the finest matcha on traditional stone mills. The entire process - from picking to packaging - is a commitment to craftsmanship and takes several weeks.
