This certified organic powder comes from the first plucking in May, a period in which the delicate, shaded leaves develop their full aroma spectrum. Kabuse means that the tea plants are shaded with nets for around a week before harvesting - a traditional process that reduces the bitter substances and intensifies the valuable umami notes in the leaves.

In the cup, the powder develops a strong, subtly tart aroma with an elegant bitter note - ideal for anyone who prefers their matcha experiences to be lively rather than sweet.
