A sencha like a quiet morning in the cloud forest

If you don't just want to drink tea, but experience it, a very special companion awaits you with the Yame Sencha - organic from Okuyame. This sencha grows amidst forested mountains at an altitude of around 600 meters, where clear mountain air, cool temperatures and silence are part of everyday life. In this secluded, untouched region in Fukuoka Prefecture, conditions prevail that allow the tea plant to breathe - slowly, healthily and invigoratingly.

Growing in balance - without any pesticides

The high altitude ensures that the tea plants are naturally resistant: pests hardly stand a chance at low temperatures, making chemical plant protection superfluous. Instead, people here have relied on careful cultivation with fermented organic fertilizers - known as bokashi - for generations. The result is not only organic, but alive - a tea that thrives in harmony with nature.

The tea farmers in Okuyame give each plant their full attention. They observe growth cycles, listen to the seasons and sensitively adjust care and harvesting to the changing mix of sun, moisture and wind. All of this manifests itself in small, dark green needles with an intense fragrance - and in a taste that exudes strength and clarity.

• Shape: Needle-like, delicately tapering
• Color: Deep dark green - almost like moss in the shade
• Scent: Soft, green, reminiscent of damp grass after summer rain

After the infusion:

• Color: Clear, golden yellow tone
• Fragrance: Restrained, slightly grassy - almost meditative
• Taste: Defined and present, with an honest character - subtly mineral, softly rounded

Something special - even objectively

In May 2017, the tea variety used - the Yame Sencha Cultivar - was awarded Japan's national premium tea prize. What arrives in the cup is therefore not random quality, but loving purism at a high level.
