Made from carefully shaded tea leaves from the first harvest in the southern Japanese prefecture of Kagoshima, this high-quality drinking-grade matcha brings an intense, natural green color to your bowl and exudes a fragrance reminiscent of fresh grass and mild roasted notes when brewed.

Keiko Premium was originally developed for thin preparation (Usucha), but can also be enjoyed as a strong Koicha with the right dosage. It is particularly harmonious when brewed with soft water at around 70-75 °C - this is the best way to develop its complex flavor.

It could hardly be fresher - ground directly in Germany

What many people don't know is that as soon as matcha comes into contact with air, it begins to oxidize - meaning that the fine tea flavour quickly loses its depth. Instead of relying on long transportation routes, this matcha is freshly ground directly in Germany, more precisely at KEIKO's company headquarters in Diepholz. A clear advantage if you value maximum freshness and aroma.

We carefully bottle our matcha and store it in lightproof tins to protect its aroma - so that you can enjoy exactly what matters: an authentic Japanese taste experience in the best organic quality.

The quality is good, based on the colour, and the powder easily dissolves into water at the correct temperature. However, there is a bitter aftertaste for me, so I won’t be buying this particular brand again. This is one of the best matcha I've tasted, it has a very fruity and sweet smell and taste and there's also some grassy notes and a balanced bitterness.
I can also confirm the nutty aroma.

The sourness and umami are not overpowering.
I prefer this one over the Keiko Tekiro because it has less bitterness and still some freshness. bitterness.
