Imagine you are standing early in the morning amidst misty mountain slopes, surrounded by deep green tea bushes - this is exactly where Yama Oku Sencha grows: in the remote tea gardens of Shutaro Hayashi in the Kirishima Mountains, far away from the hustle and bustle and industry. "Yama Oku" means "deep in the mountains" - a name that not only sets the tone geographically, but also in terms of taste: calm, soft, profound.
This organically grown sencha is created from a finely balanced composition of three special tea bush varieties: Oku Yutaka, Oku Midori and a touch of Yabukita. All three thrive at higher altitudes and sprout late - which allows them to survive frosty nights in spring and slowly but intensively gain aroma. The particularly gentle steaming process emphasizes their harmonious nuances.
The taste of Yama Oku impresses with an exceptionally velvety texture with creamy, soft notes and a subtly sweet, nutty depth.
