Kagoshima Fukamushi Premium, organic
A mainland dominated by volcanic mountains, while the rushing current of the Pacific washes around its outer borders - this is how one could describe Kagoshima Prefecture, whose natural conditions create the prerequisites for nutrient-rich soil.
The tea fields of our Kagoshima Sencha Premium are situated somewhat higher. The cultivar known in Japan as "Chiran tea" is a regional specialty. A few days before harvesting, the plants are covered extensively with fabric tarpaulins, on the one hand to retain heat, but on the other hand to reduce direct exposure to sunlight. Recognizable by its dark green color, this extra effort by the tea farmers is rewarded with a high umami content and the resulting sweetness. A special refining process ensures aromatic depth.
Unlike the Kagoshima Sencha Premium, this tea is a Fukamushi (jap: deep steam). This long steaming makes the tea softer and milder without losing flavor.

Volcanic rock and water
The tea plants of Kagoshima Sencha Premium require large amounts of water for their natural development. Water is pumped from a depth of 144 meters for irrigation, filtered through several layers of volcanic rock and enriched with minerals such as calcium, magnesium and sulfates. The altitude of the cultivation areas with the typical temperature fluctuations provide a sweetish, mild taste, which knows how to convince with unique enjoyment. The tea fields of our Kagoshima Sencha Premium are situated somewhat higher.
