Keiko Benifuuki No. 1 (organic) - tea with depth
Do you love getting to the bottom of things? Precise, well-founded, clear? Then this tea is your ideal companion. Keiko Benifuuki No. 1 comes from the first plucking of the year - spring, when the tea plant puts its concentrated strength into tender new leaves after months of rest. And it is precisely this freshness that Keiko uses to produce an exceptionally full-bodied green tea: aromatically balanced, analytically fascinating - and scientifically highly interesting. The special thing: a tea with research value.
The Benifuuki variety - Camellia sinensis - cultivar Benifuuki - is still relatively young. It attracted a great deal of attention in Japan when researchers discovered an outstanding characteristic: the exceptionally high content of methylated catechins, in particular EGCG3. This special catechin is being studied specifically in relation to allergies - such as hay fever - and metabolic processes such as obesity. The renowned Japanese scientist Dr. Mari Maeda-Yamamoto has been researching the health-promoting properties of benifuuki for many years and cooperates closely with Keiko and the Kagoshima Tea Research Institute. Her studies are publicly accessible, including via the ResearchGate research network.
Competence meets care: processing with a system
Because the sensitive active ingredients in Benifuuki - especially EGCG and EGCG3 - can easily be lost, Keiko developed a specially adapted steaming process. The result is a tea that not only impresses with its content, but also with its stability - ideal for customers who are specifically interested in the bioactive ingredients of green tea.Aroma & character
Benifuuki No. 1 has a clear, herbal-bitter profile with a subtle artichoke note that gradually opens up into a fine, floral aroma. A tea that changes depending on the infusion parameters - fine and mild with cooler water, strong and pointed at higher temperatures or longer infusion times. You determine the sensory profile using three variables: Dosage, temperature and infusion time - a playground for curious connoisseurs.Interplay of active ingredients: In addition to EGCG and EGCG3, the first plucking tea is particularly rich in theanine - an amino acid with a relaxing effect that can improve concentration and focus. Ideal for long nights of reading or clearing your head between meetings.
Diversity of varieties for differentiated approaches Not every Benifuuki tea is the same - and that's a good thing. Keiko offers four varieties, depending on the time of harvest and active ingredient profile:- Benifuuki No. 1 (this product): First plucking, balanced floral, particularly rich in theanine, EGCG and EGCG3.
- Benifuuki No. 2: Second picking, more intense in taste, richest in caffeine, with a particularly high EGCG3 content.
- Aki-Benifuuki: Autumn harvest, milder in taste, low in caffeine - perfect for evenings or caffeine-sensitive connoisseurs.
- Benifuuki powder: Blended from all pickings - fully available in the body, ideal for smoothies, cold drinks or experimental cuisine.
